Industrial revolution and AI

Like any science or technology, AI is a force that can be used both for good and evil. It has its implications, for example taking over the jobs of people. The truth of the matter is, artificial intelligence can replace people in thought-intensive jobs, just like how the industrial revolution replaced people in more labor-intensive and mechanistic jobs. It was unavoidable that people who only possess mechanical skills will be replaced with machines that are less erroneous, more efficient and cheaper. And as the saying goes, “History repeats itself.”; the same thing will happen with the rise of AI. Having established that the development of artificial intelligence is inevitable, there is no point in being caught up with the question of whether or not jobs will be taken away, but rather we should evaluate the approaches to be taken in order to cope with such reform in our society.

  1. Really good structure and content is interesting. I like the way that you guys have related it to science fiction films really well. The evidence you have used clearly supports your argument. Maybe consider adding some more points from the opposite side of the argument on the rise of AI. Your use of sources are easy to understand. We as a group think that your blog does do a good job of convincing us as the reader of your argument + supporting it with sufficient evidence. The blog presentation is done really well.

  2. The overall use of images and video to highlight your points and make them accessible to even laymen is valuable as it manages to bring something technical AI to a tangible level.
The debate surrounding could be a bit more nuanced. Consider whether the portrayal of such AI in sci-fi could’ve also been politically requested to distract/influence the public?
Are Sci-fi representations of AI really valuable in its present application or have they tainted its image?
A bit more on these questions could strengthen the post.
